MENSTRUAL MATTERS
Date
May 2025
Location
Dzorwulu, Ghana
In commemoration of World Menstrual Hygiene Day 2025, we launched the Menstrual Matters programme at Dzorwulu Junior High School. This initiative goes beyond a single donation drive; it’s a sustainable programme designed to tackle the knowledge gaps, stigma, and educational disruptions often associated with menstruation.
For many school-aged girls at Dzorwulu JHS, the start of their period can bring feelings of shame and isolation, leading to missed school days. In extreme cases, this can cause them to fall behind or even drop out entirely. Menstrual Matters aims to change this reality.
Following our commitment to inclusive and equitable quality education, we partnered with the Godly Woman Foundation to make a lasting impact. Through Menstrual Matters, we are providing an unending supply of sanitary pads to female students of Dzorwulu JHS. These pads will always be available to students from the school authorities whenever they need them. We believe no girl should ever fall behind in class because of her menstrual cycle.
Prioritising menstrual health is crucial for achieving educational equity and significantly contributes to the broader Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 (Good Health & Well-being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), and SDG 5 (Gender Equality). By ensuring every student has access to menstrual health resources and support, we cultivate a positive school environment where everyone feels confident, valued, and welcome. #WhyWeWeave #MenstrualMatters #PeriodFriendlyWorld
